Composed by Dvorak in 1893 his Symphony No. 9 is far and away his most popular symphony and one of the most popular symphonies in the modern orchestra repertoire. The symphony has become popularly known as The New World Symphony and was strongly influenced by Dvorak’s fascination and true interest in Native American music. The Largo movement (Movement 2) brings with it the simple melody that has become the most memorable of all of Dvorak’s works. This Steven L. Rosenhaus arrangement captures the musical integrity of the original work and brings it within reach of developing string players.
